If you are attending TCEA 2015 this year make sure you check out Tech Apps Tuesday. TCEA is a wonderful conference that over 10,000 teachers attend each year. The conference is one of the largest in the southern states beside ISTE. My colleague and I will be speaking on the importance of teaching computer science in high school on Tuesday at 2:30. We will have great some great swag bags to give away.

Each day in my Audio Video Production class my students watch Channel one. Channel One has been around more than 20 years. Anderson Cooper was an anchor on this nationally known news channel. Channel One is a great student centered news station that can be used in any classroom. Channel One focuses on topics that students want to learn about and it broadens their minds. The news channel also correlates with common core based questions at the end of the segment. Teachers can print quizzes and transcripts from the previously aired shows. My students watch the 10 minute show and blog about the topic I give them each day. The topics that are given to my students are centered around their classroom assignments ( audio video production) for that day. It is so wonderful to see my students writing their opinions about the show. I've gotten my students wanting to blog in their spare time. Some even want to be bloggers and vloggers in the future. So watch out for the next big blogger on your screens. Have a wonderful techno week! I ran across this article called They loved your G.P.A. Then they saw your tweets. I saw the title and wondered what it meant. Curiously clicking on the link to see what the article was all aboutt. The article became so interesting because we have to make our students aware of what they do on social media can eventually determine their future. Teachers did you know, your students tweets can stop them from being admitted to college? College admissions can Google applicants names and get to know a student just by reading their timeline. The article I read referenced to a young lady who tweeted some awful tweets during her senior year and the result of this NO COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE. In our classroom let's make our students aware of what they tweet can ruin their academic career. The article was written by the New York Times. To read the entire article click the link here http://mobile.nytimes.com/2013/11/10/business/they-loved-your-gpa-then-they-saw-your-tweets.html?pagewanted=all&_r=1 ![]()
