On March 25, 2014..... I had the pleasure of doing a learning walk at Lakeside Middle School in Little Elm, TX. During my time as a Technology Coordinator, Ive visited a lot of school district's 1:1 program but this one was by far the best ever!!!! It was so cool how technology was being implemented.
We meet the Instructional Technology Specialist (Mr. Marcus Miller) and he was a great tour guide. Mr. Miller took us to several different classrooms where 1:1 was being implemented. This one particular math classroom stood out to me in particular. In this 21st century classroom, the students were on a website called Zondle (https://www.zondle.com/publicPages/welcome.aspx). The website looked and sounded pretty cool. The students were engaged and learning was definetly taking place. The atmosphere in this classroom was awesome. Students were using their Google Crome Books ( laptop), listening to their music on their iPods, and learning all at the same time. I was amazed at how the students were learning but having fun at the same time. This is exactly how I imagined a 21st century classroom to look like. Another cool place in this school was called the "Google Dome". The "Google Dome" room is where students can go and get their computers repaired during school. Little Elm School district is definetly on the right track to creating a 21st century digital school. Kudos to You!!!!!!!! Here are some pictures from the classes.

Clap your hands everybody bc it's going to be a Rocking Good Time!!! Warning!!! This will not be your traditional conference!!! Click the link below http://animoto.com/play/CiA6d4aJ1hYbOUXyN8YLZw Teachers there are 82 days left until we #rockthecore!!!! If you have not registered yet.... WHAT ARE YOU WAITING ON??? Please email me if you need more information regarding our conference! Teachers it is important for your students to understand how to be a great digital citizen. The definition of a Digital citizen basically describes what a citizen should look like on the World Wide Web. Here is an article that describes 9 themes on what digital citizens should look like. http://digitalcitizenship.net/Nine_Elements.html?utm_content=buffer1b993&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer Every year students enter the White House student film festival. This years theme was how has technology change education. Over 2500 videos were submitted. Only 16 videos were selected. When I say these videos are amazing videos! They are beyond techno savvy! I really like this one particular video from the students in Washington DC..(Wilson High School, Washington, DC) Both of the links are posted below..please check them out techno educators http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_uv1yfFRVdk http://educationnext.org/what-were-watching-student-films-about-technology-in-education/ The CEO of Dialexa came to speak to my digital arts class today! This company is a technology based company. They specialistize in making software for different companies. If you have ever shopped on Amazon and you see the cool features on their website..Dialexa made that happen! Cool!!! Right?? The kids were very excited to see a real CEO of a multimillion dollar company face to face. Techno Educators, speakers are a great way to include real world experiences in the classroom. Scott Harper majored in biomedical engineering while in college. Who would have thought he would start his own technology firm? My students were amazed that you have to be extremely good in chemistry and math in order to major in engineering or even start your own tech firm. Real world experiences come in many different forms. Invite speakers in your classroom in order to connect the real world to your classroom activities. Til Next Time Techno Educators! ;) Happy birthday to Askatechnogirl!!!!!! Teachers it's my birthday! I'm so glad to share this memory with you! Stay tuned! New posts coming soon |
