I am an alumni of Verizon Mobile Learning Academy (VMLA) and I just read an awesome post about #DigitalResilience. Digital resilience is a term that we as educators don't think of when trying out new digital tools but I think if we did then we would not give up so easily when trying new technology. Digital resilience is about trying tech tools but if it doesn't work don't give up on technology period! Many times if a digital tool doesn't work in our favor we throw it to the wolves and begin our journey onto bashing the tool or even giving up. What if we actually gave the tool a chance to work. Tools only work if we implement them correctly. Sometimes we have to research the tool and give it a try. The tools actually might work in our favor if we as educators stick to one tool at a time and figure out why it does or doesn't work.
Here are four steps to determine if a digital tool is for you: 1. Has it made an impact on your teaching in a positive way? 2. Did you actually give it a least one month to work? 3. Did you locate tutorials on how to use the tools properly? 4. Did you ask your PLNs about the digital tool? Think about these four steps before you give up on a digital tool the next time you try something new in your classroom. Remember never give up on technology, it is a tool that is meant to work in your favor and enhance your classroom learning environment. Next time think #digitalresilience #askatechnogirlisonthemove to 21st century learning!!!
